Aurubis procures various kinds of raw materials for its copper production. The largest part of the raw material input consists of imported copper concentrates that Aurubis obtains primarily on the basis of long-term supply arrangements directly from copper mines in various countries of origin. Copper concentrates are processed in Hamburg exclusively.

Furthermore, various kinds of copper scrap, copper alloy scrap and other recycling materials are treated in Hamburg, but primarily first and foremost in Lunen. These materials are procured in Europe, but also in worldwide markets, based on short term contracts. The list of various recycling materials includes copper residues and drosses, slags and metallic dusts, but also circuit boards and materials from the waste management sector, such as slimes and spent catalysts.
